Do you have any secrets to developing a writing habit?

I’ve found it’s just like any habit – you need to do it, to form it.  I know we can all think of a million reasons not to write.  But you’re here for some tips, so here are my top 10 tips to keep writing:

  • Make a dedicated space or area for your writing

  • Turn off all distractions

  • Ask your family to respect your writing time is not to be disturbed

  • Work with good lighting

  • Work with the tools that make you happy – pen & paper or a computer

  • Have regular stretching or dancing breaks

  • Go for a nap or a walk to keep the creativity flowing

  • Drink plenty of water (it will make you get up to stretch those legs)

  • Use music to set your mood and the scene for your writing

  • Try to be consistent with when you write – this helps form a habit.
